Iris Erickson

Iris June Erickson, age 93, of Wadena, Minnesota passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Iris June Mildred Lena Grewe was born on November 27, 1929, in Bartlett Township, Minnesota to Arthur and Elsie (Rach) Grewe. She was raised on the family farm and went to Hewitt School where she enjoyed cheerleading.

Iris was united in marriage to Ray Erickson on September 28, 1947, in Wadena and to this union six children were born. She worked many different jobs in her life including country school clerk, at her sister’s café, Telenet Communications, Greenthumb, and farming, which was what she did most of her life.

Iris enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, cards and cutting wood. She was a woman of great faith and would study the Bible regularly. Family was very important to Iris, and she would host Sunday dinners for the whole family.

Deeply loved, Iris’ passing will be mourned by her children: Judy Warren, Steve (Peggy) Erickson, Linda LeMans, Vicky (Rick) Schmitz, Sandy (Robert “Bob”) Skarka, and Allen (Karin) Erickson; her grandchildren Thersea (Bud Thompson) Manselle, Jared (Christina) Pickar, Christopher (Laicy) Erickson, Jessica (JD) Kuschel, Tracy Wild, Kari Crocker, Katie (Shannon) Keohane, Stacy (Jay) Miller, Becky (Joey) Woods, Tina (Dwight Kern) Hendershot, Ryan Skarka, Jason Erickson, Kristeen Erickson, Kimberlee (Robbie) Ludovissie; her sister Janet Finley; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Iris is preceded in death by her husband Ray, parents Arthur and Elsie, grandson Nicholas, and siblings: Lillian, Delbert, Alice, Adela, and Bernice.
