Heartie Wilson Obituary

Heartie Burl Wilson was born on December 14, 1936, to Lucian Burl Wilson, Jr. and Nettie Lou (Welch) in Gainesville, Texas. He was raised by his grandparents Heartie and Mattie Lou Welch in Gainesville. Heartie was baptized, confirmed, and attended high school in Gainesville, Texas, graduating with the class of 1954. Following high school, Heartie honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Army.

Following his discharge from the Army, Heartie worked as a baggage handler for Air West Airlines and eventually became a pilot. He made his home in Las Vegas, Nevada and flew for Air California, Hughs Air West, and Northwest Airlines.

On December 27, 1995, Heartie was united in marriage to Jamie Wilson in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their unity brought Heartie 2 stepchildren, Cheri and Bill, into his life. He loved the two, and treated them as his own. The kids always thought of Heartie as a father. Together they made their home in Las Vegas. Heartie retired as a pilot for Northwest Airlines in 1996. In 2004, they made their home in Gainesville.

Heartie enjoyed family vacations and traveling. He went on several cruises and spent time in Hawaii and Mexico. In the summers, he and Jamie loved to spend their time together at their cabin on West Leaf Lake, rural Henning, Minnesota.

On November 17, 2021, Heartie passed away at their family cabin on West Leaf Lake. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Heartie in death are his grandparents: Heartie and Mattie Lou; parents: Lucian and Nettie; first wife: Delores; and sister: Sandy.

Surviving Heartie is his loving wife: Jamie Wilson of Gainesville, Texas; children: Cheri (Jim) Zajac of St. Michael; and Bill (Lori) Welborn of St. Michael; 6 grandchildren: Kelly, Rachel, Yvonne, Lily, Emelia, and Brodie; many other relatives and a host of friends.
