Gregory Mickelson Obituary

Gregory Lloyd Mickelson was born March 16, 1955 in Perham, Minnesota.  His parents are Rosella Mae (Johnson) Mickelson and the late Lloyd Ellsworth Mickelson.  Greg grew up on the family farm in Spruce Grove Township and was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Menahga.  He graduated from the Frazee High School with the Class of 1973.  Greg graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1977 with a degree in accounting and then returned to the family turkey business, Oakridge Turkey Farms.

Greg enjoyed golfing and even got a hole-in-one on the Frazee golf course. He loved the Canadian fishing trips with his college friends.  He enjoyed bowling and he bowled in the National Bowling Tournament for 35 consecutive years.

On August 25, 2007, Greg was united in marriage with the love of his life, Beverley Ann (Hybl) Paavola at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills.  Together they made their home in rural Frazee and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.  Greg was an avid and proud volunteer with “Let’s Go Fishing”.  Retiring in January of 2018, Greg and Bev enjoyed spending winters in Florida, taking longs walks on the beach together as Greg loved finding many items with his metal detector.

On August 29, 2019, Greg passed away peacefully with his loving wife, Bev at his side at The Meadows in Wadena at 64 years of age.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Preceding him in death was his father, Lloyd Mickelson; son, Ryan Paavola; father-in-law, Eldon Hybl.

Greg is survived by the love of his life of 12 years, Beverley Mickelson; mother, Rosella Mickelson; sister, Jill (James) Rader; brother, Brian Mickelson; mother-in-law, Mary Hybl;  brothers-in-law: Bradley Hybl and Bernard Hybl; brothers & sisters-in-law: Dave & Gina Paavola, Gary & Angie Paavola, Brien & Deb Meyers and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, many other relatives and a host of friends.
