Gracie Marie Langlie, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by the love of family.
She was born on April 21, 1936, to Harold and Clara (Gabler) Eckert near Maytag Island on Dead Lake. Though her family moved often during her childhood—including time spent in Perham and Minneapolis—she made her home for most of her life in the Dent area, where she attended Perham High School and built a meaningful life surrounded by family and community.
While living in Perham, she met Edward Langlie at her father’s filling station—a chance meeting that marked the beginning of a lifelong union. They were married on June 11, 1953, and were blessed with eight children. At the time of Ed’s death on January 19, 2020, they had been married for over 66 years.
Known for her hardworking spirit, she was a master gardener with a true passion for planting—filling every possible space with vibrant blooms. With the entrepreneurial spirit she and Ed shared, they purchased the Hartz General Store from her parents and operated it for several years and later owned a dairy farm. Her love for growing things later led her to open her own greenhouse, where she proudly shared her passion for flowers and plants with the community.
Her gifts extended into the kitchen and throughout her home. Christmas cookies were a treasured tradition, her meals always included family favorites, and her home was kept with impeccable care. She brought the same attention and pride to her work at the Dent Post Office, Perham Memorial Hospital and Home, and Poppler’s Music, earning the admiration of those she worked with.
More than anything, she treasured her family. She rarely missed a grandchild’s game, concert, or school event—cheering from the bleachers or applauding from the pews with heartfelt pride and a twinkle in her eye.
Her legacy lives on through her beloved children: Mike Langlie, and his sons: Kristoffer (Kirsten) Langlie and their children, Carter and Willow; Kevin Langlie (†); Steve (Jan) Langlie, and their children: Joe (Jill) Langlie; Charisa (Jeremy) Lee – children: Garrett, Trenton, Maggie, Nora; Renae (Brandon) Gades – children: Briley, Alyssa, Emily; Debra (Brandon) Lippert – children: Seth, Isabell, Axel, Paxton; Sondra (Doug) Langlie – children: Teddy, Lincoln; Tom (Penne †) Langlie, and their children: Tracy (Mike) Overland – children: Lexia, Aubri, Zoey; Terry Langlie – daughter: Deborah; Tylor (Denise) Langlie – children: Travis, Julianne, Skylar (†), Autumn, and Riley; Bob (Teri) Langlie, and their children: Kati (Dave) Nelson – children: Gaven, Aiden, Anna, Kalli, Gage; Kristen Langlie; Kelsi Langlie; Jim (Sue) Langlie, and their children: Samantha (Jay) Hannemann – son: Bennett; Jon (Kara) Langlie – daughter: Mila; David (Darriean) Langlie – children: Grady, Violet; Matt Langlie; Don (Michelle) Langlie, and their children: Vanessa (Dan) Krier – children: Vivian, Weston; Scott Langlie; Jacob (Bethany) Langlie – children: Cooper, Kinsley; Mary (Keith) Bauman, and their children: Amanda (Aaron) Wendlandt – children: Blake Teberg, Amber (Jon) Teberg – daughter: Oakley, Faith, Teigan, Deziray, and Preston; Nicole (Mike) Earley – children: Brooke (Austin) Holzer, Bella Holzer, Savanah Edelman; Janell (Eric) Gibble, and their children: Austin Gray, Derek Gibble.
