George Norman Wallgren was born on February 24, 1932 at home in Blower’s Township rural Sebeka, Minnesota. His parents were the late Algot and Adla (Lundgren) Wallgren. George attended Country School at District #222 in Blowers Township. He graduated from the Sebeka High School with the class of 1949. George served in the United States Army from October 21, 1953 to September 24, 1955.
On August 9, 1956 George was united in marriage with Jeanette Bernadine Kluenenberg at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 4 children. Together George and Jeanette made their home in Bluffton where they raised their family. George was employed with the Wadena Dairy Lab for 8 years and then Bluffton Creamery for 25 years, retiring in 1994. George enjoyed cutting meat at Dean’s Country Market and the Mills Locker Plant.
During their younger years George and Jeanette enjoyed going to dances, playing pranks, bowling mixed double league with their close friends Jim and Bea. They loved taking their family on summer vacations every year to an area lake and spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George was an avid Twins and Bluffton Braves fan and enjoyed a trip to the casino.
Jeanette passed away on February 22, 2019. On April 17, 2022 George passed away peacefully at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, Minnesota at 90 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding George in death were his parents: Algot and Alda Wallgren; wife: Jeanette; brother: Ervin; sisters: Dorothy Petersen; Gladys (Lyle) Petersen; brothers-in-law: Jim Kupfer; Jim Stadum; and Randy DeVries; and sister-in-law: Maureen Achter.
George is survived by 2 sons: Steve (Ellen) Wallgren and Kevin (Cindy) Wallgren; 2 daughters: Sue (Kelly) Lound and Ann (Scott) Stang; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Gary (Karen) Kluenenberg; Dick (Ranaye) Kluenenberg; Gary Achter; and Orin Petersen; sisters-in-law: Bea Kupfer; Rose (Denny) Haugen; Donna (Steve) Oien; Joanne (Gus) Andrade; and Mag Wallgren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
