Gayle Hawkinson, 72, of Kirkland, Arizona—and most recently the peaceful countryside of Browerville, Minnesota—passed away surrounded by the love of her family and pets.
Gayle was born on July 19, 1952, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Harvey and Helen (Schwandt) Hawkinson. She graduated from Clover Valley High School, located between Two Harbors and Duluth, and went on to further her education at Duluth Business University and the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Iowa.
A proud mother of three daughters—Lavonne Michelle, Angela Dawn, and Tanya Renee—Gayle instilled in them her deep love for horses, the outdoors, and living life full throttle. Her later years took her to Arizona, where she built her dream home and continued to live life at “100 mph,” earning her the nickname "Grandma G-Force."
Gayle had a passion for auctioneering, family, fast cars, and service to others. She was a proud member of the Rock Club, Corvette Club, and Jeep Club, enjoying off-roading adventures across the Southwest. A gifted auctioneer, she not only practiced the craft but taught at the World Wide College of Auctioneering for many years, shaping future generations in the industry. Ever the social spirit, she was known for her infectious energy, her “gift of gab,” and her signature motto: "Git-R-Done!" She even became an ordained officiant, performing weddings for loved ones.
She loved to travel, and whether she was behind the wheel, in the auction ring, or telling stories at a family gathering, Gayle brought light, laughter, and love to all who knew her. She was an avid dancer who especially loved two-stepping in her beloved Dan Post cowboy boots—a collection as vibrant and bold as she was.
She is survived by her daughters: Lavonne (Chad) Nikkari of Sebeka, Angela (Justin) Rodeman of Browerville, and Tanya (Lance) Hoss of Cabool, Missouri; her grandchildren: Jesse and Joshua Ware, Macray Rodeman, Jacynda Beto, and Sierra LaLond; great-grandchildren: Olivia, Henry, and Lucas Ware, and Athena Beto; as well as her brother, Charles “Chuck” Hawkinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Helen Hawkinson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on what would have been her 73rd birthday, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena, Minnesota. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a service beginning at 3:00 PM, followed by a luncheon.
