Gary passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning July 13, 2026. Gary was born on August 8, 1970, to Ron and Sheila Parvi of Menahga. Gary is survived by his parents Ron and Sheila Parvi, his wife Susan Parvi, his son Mathew Parvi; his brother Dale (Pamela) Parvi; his nephews and niece Sean, Dean and Erika Parvi.
Gary grew up in Brooklyn Park, MN. At the age of 16 Gary moved to Menahga and lived with Terry and Barbara Burkman and their sons David, Jeff and James who adopted Gary as their brother. He graduated from Menahga High School class of 1988. After graduating, Gary enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1989. Gary was trained as a stinger missile operator and served in Okinawa, Japan. After his service Gary moved back to the twin cities and worked several jobs. He always spoke highly about his job in Hopkings, MN where he met the love of his life Susan Austin. Gary and Sue were married at the Chapel of Love in the Mall of America on March 10, 2000. They welcomed their son, Mathew, on June 14, 2003. Gary, Sue and Mathew moved to Menahga, MN in the fall of 2004. Gary worked for our cousin Glen Shepersky, Timber Roots in Wadena and was a custodian at Menahga High School. He last worked in the public works department for the City of Menahga. Gary retired from this position after being diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Diseases) in November of 2024. His unwavering faith helped him maintain a positive upbeat attitude with all who encountered him after his diagnosis.
Gary was an avid barbeque lover. He and his pellet grill made some awesome meals which he loved to share with family and friends. He grew up loving the outdoors (moving to Menahga) and was an avid deer hunter, fishman and enjoyed doing anything and everything outdoors.
Gary was a very outgoing person and touched many people’s hearts. He will forever be missed by those who knew him and will always be in our hearts.
