Gary Wayne Kasper was born on February 18, 1951 to Alfred and Leona (Bakken) Kasper in Bertha, Minnesota. He attended Clarissa High School, graduating with the class of 1969. Following high school, Gary attended Central Lakes College in Staples, Minnesota.
On September 4, 1971, Gary was united in marriage with Brenda Plautz. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Jackie, Sally and Bob. Together, Gary’s family made their home in Bertha, Minnesota. He worked for the Eagle Bend Creamery before they made their home in Wadena, Minnesota where Gary was employed at Russ Davis Wholesale for 31 years. Gary retired, worked part time for The Friendly Rider and retired fully in 2012.
Gary was an active member of the Wadena Elks Lodge #2386, Knob Hill Sportsman’s Club in Wadena and he was the President of the “Uffda” Fishing Team. Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, cooking, and working in his shop. He loved being with his grandchildren and spending time volunteering to help drive kids to Elks Camp.
On July 1, 2020, Gary passed away at his home in Wadena, Minnesota surrounded by his loving family and under the gentle care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Preceding Gary in death are his parents: Alfred and Leona; father-in-law; mother-in-law; brother: LeRoy; 5 sisters-in-law; and 2 brothers-in-law.
Gary is survived by his loving wife: Brenda; children: Jackie (Terry) Louwagie of Ham Lake, Minnesota; Sally Daigle of Cohasset, Minnesota; and Bob Kasper of Wadena, Minnesota; 7 grandchildren; siblings: Joan (Dennis) Peterson of Clarissa, Minnesota; Winona Kasper of St. Paul, Minnesota; Leon (Judy) Kasper of Mora, Minnesota and Marlo (Denise) Kasper of Clotho, Minnesota; many other relatives and a host of friends.
