Fred Henrik Pedersen was born in Hibbing, Minnesota on July 12, 1953, to Henrik M. and Eva C. Pedersen (nee Erickson). Fred grew up in South Minneapolis and graduated from Columbia Heights High School. He worked in many fields from mechanics to metal fabrication to cooking in restaurants, but his greatest joy came from baking and decorating cakes. In later years, he was a city bus driver for Wilmington, North Carolina, then a taxi driver, and finally a clerk at Handee Hugo's in Rocky Point, NC before his health made him retire.
On August 6,1988 he married Karen Jennie Shiflet (nee Sundberg).
Fred spent most of his life in Minnesota. But in later years, he resided in North Carolina until his health became an issue and he needed the care of his family and was moved home to Minnesota. Fred was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, brother Amund, son-in-law Gaylen Schmuhl, and grandson Ruben.
Fred is survived by his Wife: Karen; sons: Lars Pedersen; Warren (Shirley) Pedersen;, Andrew (Felisha) Pedersen; daughters: Donna (Gerald) Hanson, Sara Schmuhl, Julie (David) Heflin; step-son: Larson (Taquilla) Shiflet; brothers: Peder (Cherie) Pedersen; Edwin (Renae) Pedersen; sisters: Arlette (Gary) Toepper; Carol (Raymond) Rasmussen; Edythe (Brent) Foley; and Brenda (Dennis) Lee; sister-in-law: Marcia Pedersen; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and a host of Christian friends and family.
Fred peacefully passed away in living faith on the morning of December 27th, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.
