Evangelyn "Angie" Harthun

Evangelyn "Angie" Harthun, 77, of Dent, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in Fargo, North Dakota. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with Parish Prayers and Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Church of the Sacred Heart in Dent. Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Sacred Heart in Dent. Visitation will resume one hour prior to Mass at church.

Born on December 13, 1947, in Perham, Minnesota, Angie was the daughter of Jake and Frances (Cullen) Honer. She married Leroy Harthun (deceased) in 1965 in Dent, and together they were blessed with five children.

Later in life, Angie pursued her education and earned an associate degree in computer programming. In 1989, while living in Washington State, she met her soulmate, Mike Cunningham. She returned to Minnesota in 2000, where she continued to embrace life with energy and curiosity.

Angie had a passion for quilting and antiquing and found great joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. A dedicated genealogist, she traveled extensively in search of her family’s roots. Her love of travel was matched only by her enthusiasm for discovering new foods; she was always on the hunt for “the best food anywhere.” While living in Seattle, she developed a fondness for Thai cuisine and was rarely seen without a Diet Coke in hand. Family gatherings were among her favorite times, particularly when they involved desserts.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Juanita (Daniel) Harthun of Charlotte, North Carolina; Brenda (Ryan) Coffey of Chehalis, Washington; Angelique (Dan) Sonnenberg of Erhard, Minnesota; Kevin (Christina) Harthun of Kennewick, Washington; and Waylon (Kelly) Harthun of Auburn, Washington. Grandchildren: Brittany (Chris) Brooks, Taylor Smathers, Ryan Jule Smathers, Eli & Isaac Simhon, Kyra Harthun, Sawyer & Oliver Sonnenberg, Quincy & Zayne Harthun. Great-grandchildren: Hailey Hudson & Landon Brooks. Siblings: Kathy, Tim, Debbie, and Pat. Surviving in-laws: Rose, Elaine, and Lisa.

Angie is preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Sister Deborah, Dale, Lou, Mark, Rick, and Gary; and grandson: Zachary Smathers.
