Eugene "Gene" Volden passed away on November 5, 2025, surrounded by his family at Like Mother Like Daughter in Perham, Minnesota. He was 87 years old.
Born on September 2, 1938, in Wadena, Minnesota, Gene was the son of Arnold and Agnes (Peterson) Volden. He graduated from Henning High School in 1956 and soon after began building a life rooted in love and dedication.
On August 16, 1958, Gene married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Patricia Halvorson. Together they shared a deep and enduring bond and were blessed with three children. Gene was a devoted husband, father, and uncle who gave generously of his time and heart.
He carried forward the legacy of his family by owning and operating the construction business founded by his father in 1948. Through hard work and commitment, Gene continued to build not only structures but also strong relationships within his community.
In his free time, Gene found peace in nature. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cutting wood—activities that brought him both relaxation and joy. He especially cherished time spent with his children on various projects, creating lasting memories through shared effort and care.
Gene is preceded into death by his parents Arnold and Agnes; sister Sonja Walker; and Brothers-in-law: Harold Walker, Paul Weyrens; Nephew: Mark Seeman
Gene is survived by his wife Patricia; children: Todd (Abby) Volden, Julie (Jon) Lundquist, and Jay (Erin) Volden; grandchildren: Cassie Piekarski, Tyler Lundquist, Edwin Lundquist, and Eli Volden; great-grandchildren: Wyatt Volden, Alayna Piekarski, Viola Lundquist, Paisley Lundquist, Nora Lundquist, Loretta Lundquist, and Maxwell Lundquist; siblings: Arlene (Vance) Sherman, Dennis (Colleen) Volden, Mari (Dan) Fredricks; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
