Obituary

Eric Roy Underdahl was born on November 19, 1965 to Raymond and Esther (Niska) Underdahl in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. In 1971 he moved with his family to New York Mills, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in New York Mills, graduating with the class of 1984. He was a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard, joining between his junior and senior year of school. He was medically discharged after 12 years of service. In 1994, Eric had a bone marrow transplant and became the longest known survivor of a transplant. In 2019 he had a recurrence of cancer.

He worked various jobs as a mechanic throughout his adult life. Hist latest job was a warehouse manager for R.D. Offutt in Wadena, Minnesota. He was quiet, and a man of few words, but he loved a good practical joke. When he was faced with a problem, he would study it and work it out just like his grandfather, Walter Niska.
