Edwin Theodore Hinrichs was born on October 4, 1933 in Ayr, North Dakota. His parents were the late Edward and Thelma (Holvik) Hinrichs. Edwin grew up on the family farm in Page, North Dakota, and went through the 9th grade in Tower City, North Dakota. In 1955 the family moved to Star Lake Township, rural Dent, to dairy farm and fish. Edwin served honorably in the United States Army from September 11, 1956 to May 5,1958 where he was stationed near Paris, France. He retired from farming in 1969 when Edwin and his mother moved to Baldwin Park, California where Edwin was employed as a welder. Edwin moved back to the family farm in Star Lake Township where he continued to farm on the side with his friend at the Fjolien Farms in rural Elbow Lake. He also graded roads for 20 years in Star Lake Township and enjoyed farming.
Edwin passed away on December 31, 2020 at Perham Living in Perham, Minnesota at 88 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Edwin in death were his parents, Edward and Thelma (Holvik) Hinrichs; brother, Eilert and his wife, Hellen Hinrichs; brother, Henry Hinrichs and sister, Beverly Altenburg.
Edwin is survived by his sister-in-law, Arlene Hinrichs of Vancouver, Washington; many nieces, nephews and also many other relatives and a host of friends.
Services with Military Honors will be held at Pleasant Hills Cemetery in Dent, Minnesota in the Spring of 2021.
