Edward Herman Papenfuss was born on January 10, 1934 in Perham, Minnesota. His parents were the late Herman and Emma (Steeke) Papenfuss. Ed attended Country School #277 in Corliss Township and graduated from the Perham High School with the class of 1952. Ed was united in marriage to Alvira Mary Wulf on October 8, 1953 at Spruce Grove Union Church, rural Menahga, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with five children. Ed proudly served in the United States Army from November 16, 1954 to September 21, 1955. He was employed with Kern-Tabery in Wadena and then began Papenfuss Construction.
On March 30, 2018 Ed passed away at the Heritage Living & Rehab in New York Mills, Minnesota at 84 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Ed in death were his parents, Herman and Emma; son, Gregory; sister, Marie Plachy and Arlene Larson; brother, Robert; son-in-law, Chuck Schmidt.
Ed is survived by his wife, Alvira of New York Mills; daughter, Gayle Schmidt of Wadena; son, Thomas (Sheri) Papenfuss of New York Mills; son, Jerry (Elvira) Papenfuss of Browerville; and daughter, Wendy (Peter) Bosl of Long Prairie; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; siblings: Erhardt Papenfuss of Salem, Alabama; Arland Papenfuss of Cottage Grove; many other relatives and a host of friends.
