Edward Coyle Jr. Obituary


Edward John Coyle Jr. was born on October 3, 1951 in Crosby, Minnesota to Edward Sr. and Lila (Vezina) Coyle. He attended Cass Lake High School, graduating with the class of 1969. Edward then attended Bemidji State University where he received his degree in education. He was employed at Cass Lake High School as a substitute teacher.

On October 7, 1978 Edward was united in marriage to Sue Ann Cramer at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Cass Lake. They were married for 23 years and blessed with two children: Nolan and Kimberly.

Edward taught Social Studies at Kelliher High School for 30 years. He also coached football and knowledge bowl at Kelliher, retiring in 2010. Edward then made his home in Blackduck, Minnesota where he became known as “Big Ed”. He loved karaoke and was a trivia expert. He enjoyed attending, coaching, and keeping stats for baseball games over the summer months and was a wealth of knowledge in baseball history and history in general.

On May 29, 2020 Edward passed away at 68 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Edward in death were his parents: Edward Sr. and Lila; half siblings: Scott Burdick, Roberta Faughn, and Carol Forbes.

Edward is survived by his children: Nolan (Krista) Coyle; and Kimberly (Peter) Puhala; 4 grandchildren: Claire, Auden, Thorne and 1 on the way; sister: Peggy (Joe) Wimmer; many other relatives and a host of friends.
