Dr. Bridget Rae King

Dr. Bridget R. King of Aldrich, MN passed away suddenly on May 13, 2024.

She was born January 25, 1954, in Wausau, Wisconsin to Charles J. and Grace A. (Meuret) King. Her love of animals has been a lifelong obsession. She always had pets in her life.

Bridget graduated from Wausau West High School in 1972. She was a member of the orchestra, playing the violin. In later years, she belonged to many local orchestras including the Long Prairie Chamber Orchestra, playing the violin and viola. She started her college education at the UW-Central Wisconsin and later transferred to UW-Platteville. She graduated in 1976 with a BS in Animal Science and a minor in Chemistry. At the time, Wisconsin did not have a veterinarian school, so she moved to Minnesota to establish residency and later applied to Univeristy of Minnesota Veterinarian School. She graduated in 1982 with her Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine. She always wanted to be a Vet.

In September 1983, Bridget started Homestead Vet Clinic in Aldrich, MN. In 1998, she and friends founded Pets Abandoned Wanting Support (PAWS), a nonprofit to help animals find good homes. “Stop the cycle and save the strays. Spay and neuter your pets.”

She loved to play softball. Through the years she played and coached softball, bowled on a league, square danced and was an avid jewelry lover. She was always up for a game of cards.

Bridget was active in her community, sitting on the City Council serving as treasurer. She was a large supporter of live music and the Wadena Area Concert Association.

She will be greatly missed.

Per her request, there will be no service and she will be cremated. A Celebration of Life in her honor will be held Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Pine Grove Park in Staples from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Bring your pets!
