Dorothy Doll-Carner

Dorothy Mae Doll-Carner was born on July 19, 1957, in Perham, Mn, to Leo and Theresa Doll. She graduated from Perham High School in 1975.

In 1976, she went to Detroit Lakes Vocational and received a diploma in Sign Lettering and Design in 1977. She worked in the field making signs the following year in North Dakota. She returned to Perham and worked at Ottertail Country School and Perham Elementary School for 10 years, working with children with special needs.

Dorothy went to Brainerd Community College in 1988 and received her AAS degree. She then worked at the Pillager School in the classroom and later became head of Transportation. She later went to work at the Pillager Charter School as a bus driver and art teacher. She retired in 2020 due to a medical disability.

She met her husband Dave at college, and they were married in November 1988. Her children are Clayton (Kayla Cooper), Brainerd, and Molly (Travis) Runkel, Brainerd. Grandchildren are Josiah, Renyck, Rhyle, and Lyla.

She continued making professional signs for people and loved the strokes of calligraphy. She was a true country girl at heart. She enjoyed gardening, working the ground, and riding four wheelers, along with fishing, deer hunting, and spending time with her family, which brought her joy. Dorothy enjoyed attending Rendezvous Gatherings with her husband. Dorothy loved doodling with her pen, and making crafts was her talent.

Siblings are Michael (Dorothy) Doll, Judy (Harry) Dahlin, Ronald (Julie) Doll, Elaine (Timothy) Anderson, Joan (Mark) Klinnert, Joseph (Lori) Doll. Deceased are her parents, Leo and Theresa; brother, Stephen (Paula Scheidecker-Johnson) Doll; and sister, Patricia Doll.
