Don Scheller, 69, of Wadena, Minnesota passed away on February 12, 2026. Born on April 10, 1956, in Bertha, he was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
Don built a life rooted in adventure, hard work, and providing for his family. A graduate from Verndale High School’s Class of 1974, his working life reflected broad interests and many abilities, including manager, business owner, realtor, and skilled tradesman. On September 9, 1978, he married Jeri Erickson at the Congregational Church in Wadena. Together, they were blessed with three children and six grandchildren.
Don embodied the idea of “work hard, play hard”. As an avid outdoorsman and woodsman, Don found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and kayaking. Bigger than life, he could be found riding his motorcycle, traveling, and sharing experiences with family and friends. His woodworking skills reflected both his creativity and dedication to craftsmanship.
Above all else, Don cherished his role as father and grandfather. His love for his family was evident in every project he undertook and every moment he shared with those closest to him.
Don is preceded into death by his mother Carol Scheller; in-laws: Floyd & Donna Erickson, Jill Shafer, and Mary Erickson.
Don will be remembered by his wife, Jeri; children: Stacy (Aaron) Van Batavia, Casey (Amanda) Scheller, and Katey (Brian) Leverson; grandchildren: Brenna, Reed, Elliott, Brynn, Parker, and Maxwell; siblings: Diane Line, Pauline Voge, Mark Scheller, and Monte Scheller; as well as many extended family and a host of close friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Karvonen Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers are Chuck Tangeman, Craig Berry, Tyler Ehrmantraut, Terry Geiser, Pat Hunke, and Mark Sperling.
Don’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
