Deann Louise Longbella was born on August 23, 1937 in Two Harbors, MN. Her parents were the late Roy and Mary Jane (MacFarlane) Longbella.
The Longbella family moved to Staples, MN when Deann was a couple of months old. She attended Staples High School and graduated with the Class of 1955. After graduation she resided in Minneapolis and was employed as a bookkeeper in banking.
On September 25, 1956 she was united in marriage to Andrew Ament. Their marriage was blessed with six children. They farmed and raised their family. Deann took such pride in supporting her children with caring for her grandchildren and loved the time she spent with them when they were young. And if you've ever had her famous pink angel food cake, you were one of the lucky ones.
On November 17, 2015 Andy passed away. Deann continued to reside in their home. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and making quilts for the grandchildren.
On June 3, 2024 Deann passed away at Essentia Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN surrounded by her children. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Deann in death were her parents, Roy and Mary Jane; husband, Andy.
Deann is survived by her sons: LeRoy (Marlene) Ament of New York Mills; Scott Ament and Christopher (Connie Stelzer) Ament both of Bluffton; daughters: Susan (Kevin Engebretson) Ament of Ottertail; Melissa (Dave) Johnson of Hawley; and Beth (Jim) Richels of Fargo; grandchildren: Trent, Tessa, Jeremy, Brooke, Whitney, Kaylee and Andrew; great-grandchildren: Cass, John, Aubree, Marlee, Charlie, Deegan and Emmeline.
