David Szathmary

David Szathmary, age 55, of Wadena, Minnesota passed away on September 22, 2024, at his home. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

David Rodney Szathmary was born on December 15, 1968, to Laszlo and Gail (Henderson) Szathmary in Phoenix, Arizona. The family moved to Minnesota when he was three years old. He attended school in Nimrod, Sebeka, and Wadena areas.

On July 21, 2007, David was united in marriage to Kristen Madland in Wadena, Minnesota.

David enjoyed drag racing, playing his electric guitar, working on his 1979 Firebird and looking for Bigfoot.

David will be missed by his family and friends. Preceding him in death is his son, John Greenwaldt; brothers: Kenny Szathmary; and Joseph “Josie” Szathmary; grandparents; and mother-in-law: Beverly Madland.

Surviving David is his loving wife, Kristen; children: Dustin Schertler; Daniel Schertler; Samantha Szathmary; James Szathmary; eight grandchildren; his parents Laszlo and Gail; siblings: Laszlo Szathmary; Michelle Szathmary; and Christopher Szathmary; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
