David Michael Meyer was born on July 23, 1955 at St. James Hospital in Perham, Minnesota. His parents are Edgar Meyer and Margaret (Welter) Meyer. He was baptized on August 7, 1955 and confirmed on April 27, 1969 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Corliss, rural Perham, MN. He graduated from Perham High School with the Class of 1973. David worked at the Perham Locker Plant while he was in high school and then owned and operated Meyer’s Garbage Service where he got the nickname “G-Man”, he was also a partner in the Sewer Service.
David was united in marriage to Yvonne Hendrickx on May 13, 1978 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Butler, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Jessica and Melanie. He was talented on playing the piano, and enjoyed waking Jessica and Melanie up to “The Entertainer” in the mornings. David played accordion and drums in multiple country music bands. He retired in 2010. David enjoyed vegetable gardening; especially potatoes and grilling for family and friends.
Some of David’s special qualities were his willingness to help anyone whenever they needed it, his quick wit, sense of humor, strong faith, patriotism, intelligence, sincerity, generosity and his constant love and loyalty to his family and friends. On August 9, 2018 David passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife by his side. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding David in death were his grandparents, Edward and Ida Meyer; Ray and Elsie Welter; father and mother-in-law, John A. and Eileen Hendrickx; and brother-in-law, Ric Dertinger.
David is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Yvonne Meyer; daughters: Jessica (Joe) Thoma of Little Falls and Melanie (Justin) Berg of Bluffton; grandchildren: Houstin Blickenstaff, Abram Thoma, Brynn Thoma, Liam Thoma, Madylin Koskiniemi, Destiny Berg and Kaylee Berg; his father, Edgar (Dorothy) Meyer of Roseville; mother, Margaret (Welter) Meyer of Perham; siblings: Brien (Deb) Meyer of Perham; Mark (Ellie) Meyer of Perham; and Rita (Dennis) Weimann of Bemidji; brothers and sisters-in-law: Mary Dertinger, Dorothy (Ray) Beyer; Mike (Jean) Hendrickx; Donald (Pat) Hendrickx; Steve (Bonnie) Hendrickx; David (Kathy) Hendrickx; Annette (Chuck) Derouin; Mark Hendrickx; Patrick (Kris) Hendrickx and Randy Hendrickx; many other relatives and a host of friends.
