Darlene Samuelson

Darlene Janet Hopp was born on April 13, 1934 in Morgan, Minnesota.  Her parents were the late Otis and Ida (Ziegenhagen) Hopp.  Darlene graduated from the Morgan High School with the class of 1952. Following high school, Darlene attended New Ulm School of Nursing. She worked at Immanuel Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota, and Variety Club Heart Hospital at the University Hospitals in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

On July 11, 1959 Darlene was united in marriage to Ralph Samuelson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Greg, Robin, Jeff and Cindy. Together, they made their home in rural Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. Darlene was employed at Tri-County Hospital as an LPN in Wadena, Minnesota for 22 years.

Darlene enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

On March 24, 2021 Darlene passed away at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Wadena, Minnesota at 86 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents: Otis and Ida; siblings: Harlen Hopp; and Shirley Hopp Montgomery;  and infant great-grandchild: Kaitlyn.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 61 years: Ralph Samuelson of Parkers Prairie; children: Greg (Jolene) Samuelson of Parkers Prairie; Robin (Donny Cihlar) Samuelson of Parkers Prairie; Jeff (Heidi) Samuelson of Parkers Prairie; and Cindy (Scott) Lenz of Alexandria; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are prefered to Heartland Hospice.
