Darlene Birch Obituary

Darlene Ann (Schmidt) Birch was born on October 21, 1939, in Claremont, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Albert and Hedwig (Semmann) Schmidt.

Darlene and her family moved to their family farm west of Deer Creek in 1951. She graduated from the Deer Creek High School with the class of 1957. On June 8, 1957, she was united in marriage with Donald Birch at the United Methodist Church in Deer Creek. Their loving marriage was blessed with five children: Pamela, Patty, Lynn, James, and Larry.

Donald passed away in September of 1999. Although her husband was no longer with her, Darlene still found joy in her remaining family and lovingly cared for her daughter, Lynn, for 57 years. Darlene spent many hours in the kitchen making delicious meals for her family. You could always be assured that she would have homemade bars or a variety of other baked goods ready for any guests that stopped in for a visit. Darlene was an avid Timberwolves and the Vikings fan. She also enjoyed feeding birds and caring for her yard which included many beautiful flowers throughout. Darlene worked for a short time at Homecrest and also spent some time cleaning lake cabins with her sister-in-law Jean.

On March 20, 2024, Darlene passed away peacefully at Briarwood Apartments in Perham, Minnesota at 84 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
