Daniel Johnson

Daniel Freeman Johnson was born on March 5, 1948 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. His parents were the late Nathan and Hazel (Ames) Johnson.  Daniel attended the Detroit Lakes High School in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and graduated with the Class of 1966.

He proudly served in the United States Army from January 20, 1970 to June 14, 1974. When he returned he was employed at various ranches in Wyoming.

On January 3, 2007 Daniel was united in marriage to Cheryl  Lynn Vinson in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Together Cheryl and Daniel made their home in Greenville, South Carolina.  In 2015 they moved to the Johnson Farm in rural Sebeka and then made their current home in Park Rapids, Minnesota.

Daniel enjoyed spending time outside and especially fishing and hunting.

On September 9, 2025 Daniel passed away at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota at 77 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Daniel in death were his parents: Nathan and Hazel Johnson; and brothers: Russ and Tim Johnson.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Cheryl Johnson of Park Rapids; children: Nikki, April, Aaron and David.

Brothers: Gary (Paula) Johnson of Lakeville, Maine; Dave (Melissa) Johnson of Hawley, Minnesota; sisters: Barb Bauer of Powell, Wyoming; Margaret (Jim) Ketchen of Rapid City, South Dakota; and Sue (Robert) Hague of Texas; other relatives and a host of friends.
