Dale Greiner Obituary

Dale Le Roy Greiner passed on the morning of May 22, 2022, peacefully in his sleep at the age of 80. Dale was born July 30, 1941 to Reinhold and Ada (Cook) Greiner in Morris, MN. Dale was Baptized and confirmed into the Federated Church, Morris MN.

Dale attended Morris Area Schools through graduation in 1959. Dale excelled in football and wrestling, in which he won Tri-State Championship his Senior year. Attending the U of M, Minneapolis on a wrestling scholarship. Dale married the love of his life, Marcia Rae Lebakken on August 25th 1962 and they had four children Kim, Kyle, Kelly and Kory. Dale was a businessman and started several businesses. In 1962 Dale started Morris Bearing and Supply. Dale also farmed and had a fleet of semi-trucks. In 1972 Dale started the GK Western store. Dale also helped several other men and women in their businesses. Dale was a mentor to many young men through the years. He provided a place to stay, a listening ear, hard work and friendship. Dale and Marcia also hosted a Finnish foreign exchange student. Dale was an ambitious, active, and adventurous soul. He loved racing (participating and watching), hunting, shooting pool, bowling, puzzles and motorcycling; which he made several cross-country trips. Including a trip to Alaska, the Artic Circle and back. Dale was a furiously competitive player when playing cards and games with family and friends. The Fishing trips with Dale were a treat for many men who had never been fishing in Canada before. Dale then started to bring his kids fishing in Canada, first was his daughter, Kim, at the age of 12 then his boys and some of their friends. Dale was able to take a few of his grand and great-grandchildren to Canadian waters as well. One thing you learned while fishing with Dale is that he was master camp cook and if anyone complained about the food, they would soon gain the experience of cooking the next meal. With all his activities Dale would also like his down time to just sit, feed and watch the birds. Dale said it how it was and didn’t mince words, he loved people, family and friends. He loved to share stories of his adventures and was good at it. Dale & Marcia were snowbirds in Florida for many years, where they made many friends from across the country & Canada. It was there that Dale started quilting with Marcia. Bold enough to wear pink & quilt.

Dale & Marcia bought a cabin on East Battle Lake in 1997 where they eventually built their home and moved to Vining, their current home.

Dale and Marcia have 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. They love them all and put on many many miles to help out as needed and to watch and support them in all of their various activities. Dale was preceded in death by his son, Kelly, his parents, his sister, Patty Fritz, brothers -in-law Wayne Christenson and Roger Hansen and various aunts, uncles, family, and friends.

Dale is survived by his wife Marcia, children; Kim (Dean) Diers of Isanti, Kyle (Katie) Greiner of Morris, Kory (Dorothy) Greiner of Bemidji, an unofficially adopted son, David Wannarka of McAlpin, FL, his grandchildren; Aaron (Tracy) Diers of Baraboo WI, Andrew Diers of Isanti, Reed Neset-Greiner of Stanley, North Dakota, Conner Powers of Morris, Grace, Leila, Paul and Emma Greiner of Bemidji, his great-grandchildren; Nathan, Gabriel and Anne Diers, his brother Dewayne (Diane) Greiner of Cyrus, sisters; Nancy Hansen of Alexandria, and Rhonda Thompson of California, and other family and friends.
