Cynthia “Cindy” Linnea Martin was born on May 29, 1956 to Roy and Elsie (Matz) Martin in Perham, Minnesota. She attended Perham High School, graduating with the class of 1974.
On October 4, 1975 Cindy was united in marriage to Thomas Becker at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two sons: Troy and Cory. Together they made their home on the family farm in Newton Township. Their home would become a loving environment and safe space for numerous friends and family.
Cindy worked as a Paraprofessional at the New York Mills Public Schools for 27 years. She played organ at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham, starting when she was 15 years old, and continued to play at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills, Minnesota. She enjoyed music as well as cooking, baking and spending time with her family and friends. Cindy’s smiling face was seen at numerous sporting events and concerts. Her quiet hum while she moved through a room will be incredibly missed.
On August 10, 2020 Cindy passed away at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota at 64 years of age. During this difficult time Cindy was blessed with never-ending support and generosity. She demonstrated an incredible example of unrelenting courage.
Preceding Cindy in death are her parents; father-in-law: Lawrence Becker.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband Tom; sons: Troy (Ali) Becker of Fargo, North Dakota; and Cory (Kelly) of Hopkins, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren: Dempsey, Dom, Nora, Elsie and Hazel; sisters: Bonnie (Bob) Koeneman of Sheridan, Wyoming; Joanne Koeneman of Perham, Minnesota; and Nancy (Joel) Poulson of Perham, Minnesota; Mother-in-law: Nancy Becker; many other relatives and a host of friends.
