Clyde Ellingson

Clyde Ellingson, 80 years old passed away on May 26, 2024 at LB Broen Home. Clyde was born at home to Clifford & Irene Ellingson on November 26, 1943 near Eagle Bend, MN. Growing up, Clyde attended Country School and Henning High School where he played football. As a teenager, he moved to South Dakota and worked for a farmer. In 1964, Clyde joined the Army where he served in Korea. While in Korea, Clyde met his first wife (uncha) and adopted his son Junee. Clyde and his family moved back to the states where he farmed near Deer Creek and worked at the Arsonal in Anoka making bullets. After his divorce, Clyde moved to Parker’s Prairie, MN and Claire City, SD to continue his love of farming. Clyde met his second wife, Pat through the National Enquire. They both wrote each other many letters until Pat decided to take a gray hound bus from Florida to South Dakota, to meet Clyde. Two weeks later, they were married at the Sisseton Court House. Clyde continued his love of farming with his new bride in Deer Creek until becoming a Truck Driver for Foltz Trucking. Clyde always had a love for cats and dogs and would bring his dog (Shep) with him when trucking. Clyde retired from trucking in 2014 in which time, he cared for his wife until she needed to go into a nursing home and passed away in 2015. In 2017, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and a tumor on his brain. This is when he was moved to LB Home for care. While at LB Home, Clyde enjoyed playing kickball and visiting with family and staff. Clyde will always be remembered for his big smile and his love of talking with people.

Preceded in death by his wife-Patricia Ellingson, Parents-Clifford Ellingson & Irene (warner) Ellingson and brothers-Hillman Ellingson and Orville Ellingson.

He leaves behind Clinton (Eileen) Ellingson of Sisseton, SD. Clayton (Patsy) Ellingson of Watertown, SD. Rose Hanson of Garrison, ND. Sandy Ellingson of Deer Creek, MN. Bob (Janet) Ellingson of Amery, WI. Arleen King of Fergus Falls, MN and many nieces and nephews.
