Clarence Schoon Obituary

Clarence Gustave Schoon was born to Gustave and Grace (Tilton) Schoon on October 24, 1940 in Pine River, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Sebeka, Minnesota. Clarence attended Sebeka High School, graduating with the Class of 1958. He furthered his education in welding. Clarence honorably served in the United States Army, being discharged in September of 1965.

On June 6, 1964, Clarence was united in marriage to Gwendolyn Young in Staples, Minnesota. They were blessed with four children: Brenda, twins: Brian and Brent, and Bradley. The Schoon family farmed for many years, where Clarence did his own welding. After his son Brent took over the farm, Clarence drove semi for R.D. Offutt for 8 years.

Clarence loved nature, being outside around God’s creation and people. His ongoing faith followed him through life, and he was dedicated to Oylen Missionary Alliance Church. He enjoyed attending Sunday morning services with his wife and sharing in their potlucks.

His love for the outdoors brought him hunting and fishing in Minnesota. He also hunted in Wyoming years ago. Clarence was a member of the Model T Club, where he owned his own Model T; Clarence spent his spare time remodeling trailers and Model T’s and collecting gas engines. In the 80’s he enjoyed flying model airplanes. He was also a member of the Itasca Club. Clarence and Gwendolyn attended pioneer shows to show his antique cars and engines.

Clarence passed away peacefully at his sons home in rural Sebeka on May 14, 2021 at 80 years of age. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Clifford Schoon; sister: Gladys (at 2 years old); and brother-in-law: Richard Jordan.
