Obituary

Clarence Quasnick, age 95, of Sebeka, Minnesota passed away on July 12, 2023 at Lakewood Care Center in Staples, Minnesota. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Clarence will be laid to rest at Greenhill Cemetery, Sebeka, Minnesota.

Clarence Frederick Quasnick was born on June 15, 1928, to Robert and Jeanette (Bergsteen) Quaschnick in Pollock, South Dakota. Clarence grew up on their family farm in rural Pollock. At the age of seven, they moved to rural Sebeka, where they continued farming. Clarence served honorably in the United States Army from September 21, 1948, to May 15, 1952.

On July 30, 1955, Clarence was united in marriage to LaVonne Stelck in Wadena, Minnesota. Together they made their home in Sebeka. Clarence owned and operated the Sinclair Station in Sebeka and then an autobody and radiator repair shop. Clarence was also a mechanic and bus driver for the Sebeka School, retiring in 1980. Following retirement, he enjoyed buying and selling scrap iron.

Clarence was a member of Sebeka American Legion Post #456, and the Menahga V.F.W. He loved trapping mink, coyote, and fox, tanning the hides and crafting them into hats and mittens. Clarence also liked watching football and baseball games.

Preceding Clarence in death are his parents: Robert and Jeanette; wife: LaVonne; son: Jack Rautio; son-in-law: Bob Antilla; daughter-in-law: Dody Bernu; brothers: Robert, Art, and Jim; and sister Merlin; and granddaughters: Jennifer Bernu and Jessica Rautio.

Clarence is survived by his daughters, Roberta Quasnick; Deb Antilla; son: Terry (Janice) Rautio; and Steve Bernu; daughter-in-law: Linda Rautio; 2 bonus daughters: Judy (Steve) Kramer; and Tracey (Tony) Bakke; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
