Cindy Kasperson passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 70.

Cindy Lee Swanson was born on November 9, 1955, to DeLyle and Margurite Swanson in Princeton, Minnesota. She grew up in Zimmerman, Minnesota, with five sisters and one brother. She graduated from Elk River High School in 1974. She then attended the University of Minnesota Crookston, where she met the love of her life, Rick. Rick and Cindy were married on September 11, 1976, in a small church outside of Verndale, Minnesota. Shortly after, they were blessed with three children. Cindy worked in the grocery industry for 40 years and retired at the age of 62 to spend more time with her family. Her favorite pastimes included bowling, where she participated in the National Bowling Tournaments several times, camping with family, traveling, attending music festivals, and spending time with her grandchildren. She always made sure to be present for all her grandchildren's major life events, including sporting events, school programs, prom, and graduations.

She will be remembered for her deep love of her grandchildren. She leaves behind her loving husband of 49 years, Rick; two daughters, Shannon Ostlund of Verndale, MN, and Shay (Andy) Walz of Wadena, MN; nine grandchildren, Aaron (Angela) Anderson-Grecco, Dylan Horn, Riley Kasperson, Atalie Anderson, Alyssa and Payten Ostlund, and Aubrey, Cody, and Nolan Walz; her mother-in-law, Wilma Leonard; and five sisters, Lona (Gene) DeMars, Donna Stark, Linda Bauer, Dorothy (Larry) Meyer, and Connie Swanson. Her legacy will live on through her daughters and grandchildren.

Cindy was preceded in death by her son, Shawn Kasperson; her parents, DeLyle and Margurite Swanson; her brother, Rusty Swanson; her father-in-law, Darwin Leonard; and her brothers-in-law, Tim Bauer and David Kasperson.
