Candace Kae Pulju was born on January 15, 1954 in Hazen, North Dakota. Her parents were the late Emil and Carroll (Huber) Maas, Jr.
She graduated from high school with the class of 1972 in Wadena, Minnesota.
On February 10, 1973 Candace married Larry Pulju at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wadena. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Stacey and Corby.
Candace was a hard worker. She was employed at many businesses in Wadena including Brinks Jewelry, Rex McDonald Studios, Lyles Shoes and Wadena Pioneer Journal. She was also a seamstress.
Candace had many hobbies including sewing, playing bingo, playing solitaire on her bed while watching ghost shows or Survivor, going bowling and golfing. Above all, she enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in all their activities, and watching the boys play baseball for Huntersville, Bluffton Braves, University of Minnesota Golden Eagles and most recently, the FM Red Hawks. She was proud of all their accomplishments and will forever be their biggest cheerleader.
On June 17, 2024 Candace passed away at her home at 70 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Candace in death were her parents, Carroll and Emil Maas, Jr.; and sister, Melanie “Mim” Maas.
Candace is survived by her husband, Larry; daughter, Stacey (Wayne) Dykhoff of Wadena, MN; and son, Corby Pulju of Duluth, MN; five grandchildren: Jake, Justin, Joshua, Jenna and Jada Dykhoff, all of Wadena; brothers: Curtis Maas and James (Kim) Maas; other relatives and a host of friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to join Candace’s family for an informal Celebration of Life on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Wadena Elks Lodge to share their memories and share in the grieving process.
