Camilla “Kaye” Magar was born on July 26, 1935 in Middletown, New York. Her parents were the late William Lawrence and Ethel Vesta (Mayfield) Magar. Kaye grew up on a family farm in rural Middletown and graduated from the Middletown High School with the class of 1952. Kaye met Carl Korby of New York Mills, MN while he was serving in the United States Navy in 1953 and they were united in marriage in Middletown at Webb Horton Memorial Presbyterian Church on December 18, 1954.
In 1961 Kaye and Carl moved to New York Mills for a year and resided in Perham for 10 years. In November of 1971, they purchased a farm in Deer Creek Township, rural New York Mills where they first raised hogs and then beef cattle. Kaye enjoyed being a home-maker for several years and attending the Apostolic Lutheran Church of New York Mills where she became Sunday School Superintendent for more than a decade. She also helped with Vacation Bible School. Kaye was employed as an office professional with Minnesota Metal Works in Perham from October of 1992 to November of 1999 and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in Perham from August 2000 to October 2005. Carl passed away on March 22, 2004. As a dual-cancer survivor, Kaye also enjoyed participating in Relay for Life walks in Perham.
Kaye enjoyed knitting, reading, flowers, bird-watching, collecting angels, working on jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. She was also an active member of the Charles D. Center V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3289 and volunteered for many years at both the New York Mills Elders Home and delivering Meals On Wheels.
On May 13, 2020 Kaye passed away peacefully at Perham Living at 84 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Kaye in death were her parents; husband, Carl; daughters: Linda Korby, Tamara Korby, and Baby Girl Korby; son, Eric Korby; sisters: Joyce Stavale, Jean (James) Logan, Carol (Bill) Mielke; brother, Edward Magar.
Kaye is survived by her daughters: Gloria Korby; Laurel (Matthew) Strotter; Carla Korby and Jennifer (Brad) Usgaard; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Ingrid) Magar; sister-in-law, Ginny Magar; brother-in-law, Tony Stavale; many other relatives and a host of friends.
