Bruce Paul Uselman

Bruce Paul Uselman was born on July 6, 1947, in Wadena, Minnesota. His parents were the late Paul and Julia (Ferris) Uselman. Bruce attended St. Ann’s Parochial School until the 8th grade and then graduated from the Wadena High School with the class of 1965. Bruce received a 2-year associate’s degree in Electronics from the Wadena Area Vocational Technical College in Wadena, Minnesota and was employed with IBM in New York.

Bruce was drafted into the United States Army as he served in Vietnam where he was injured and received 2 Purple Hearts. He served his country honorably from January 16, 1968, to August 20, 1969. Bruce returned to his home in Wadena where he was employed as a crane operator. Later he was employed as Manager of the Elmer Goche Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3299.

In February of 1975 Bruce was united in marriage with Sherry Carlson in Wadena, Minnesota. They were married for 5 years welcoming daughters Angela and Cara. Later with significant other Deborah Taylor they had welcomed his youngest daughter Katie.

In 1990 Bruce made his home in Eagen, Minnesota where he was employed with the United States Postal Service as a driver. In 2012 he retired and returned to Wadena where he enjoyed playing cards, going to WE Fest, making memories on adventures and trips with his daughters.

On December 7, 2024, Bruce passed away at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota at 77 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Bruce in death were his parents, Paul and Julia Uselman; daughter, Angela Holt; siblings: Richard “Dick” Uselman and Judith Horn.

Bruce is survived by his daughters: Cara (Ben) Skaaland of Frazee and Katie Thompson of Deerwood, Stepson Phil (Missy) Carlson; 6 grandchildren: Samantha (Trevor) Murphy, Casey Holt, Brady Otto, Blake Skaaland, Bryce Skaaland and Brooks Skaaland; Great grandsons Tatum and Everett, Nephew Paul (Birdie) Horn, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
