Bruce McManigle

Bruce Lynn McManigle, age 71, of Wadena, Minnesota, passed away on November 9, 2023, at Astera Health in Wadena surrounded by his family.

Bruce Lynn McManigle was born on February 18, 1952, in Breckenridge, Minnesota as the ninth child out of fifteen. His parents were the late Wallace and Lorraine (Zueck) McManigle.

Bruce met Penny Carlson in the winter of 1977. They were united in marriage on March 24, 1979, and to this union three children Joshua, Tate and Kerri were born. The couple made their home in Wadena. Bruce worked at Homecrest Industries until his retirement in 2005. Bruce was an active member in the hockey association as his sons found a love of the game. Bruce also loved to farm even though they lived in town as his wife would say. You could find Bruce at a friend’s farm helping with their fieldwork, plowing, or cutting hay. You could also find him out in the woods cutting trees down for firewood. 

His love of animals was one of his best traits, with Chinese pugs among his favorites. Bruce could not wait to be a grandpa, he always liked to take them with him wherever he went, and he enjoyed having them spend time with him. Christmas time was his favorite, he would go to the store, and he would fill the cart with a smile on his face. He couldn’t wait until the kids opened their presents to see the smiles on their faces. 

Bruce and Penny were a tag team, where you would see one the other one was not far away. Bruce was always there to lend a helping hand. Bruce will be truly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.

Deeply loved, Bruce’s passing will be mourned by his wife of 44 ½ years Penny; his children Joshua (Amber) McManigle, Tate (Roxy) McManigle, and Kerri (Josh) Conn; his grandchildren: Ryan, Jasmine, Talia, Gavin, Taven, Maddie, Conner, and Carson; his siblings: Mary Ann (Phil) Greenwaldt, Gene (Jean) McManigle, Walter (Agnes) McManigle, Beverly McManigle, Wallace Jr. (Linda) McManigle, Nancy (Johnny) Schwartz, James (Jackie) McManigle, Debra (Dennis) Malone, Ron (Rose) McManigle, Donna (Danny) Schmitz, Ricky McManigle, and Curtis McManigle; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents Wallace and Lorraine, siblings Larry McManigle and Betty McManigle, and nephew Jesse McManigle.
