Ara Bursch

Ara Marie (Buchan) Bursch was born on March 25, 1937, at the family farm in rural Henning. Her parents were the late Arthur and Evangelynn (Hanson) Buchan. Ara was raised near Henning and attended Henning Public Schools, graduating in 1955. She attended Bethel College in Minneapolis, MN for two years before returning to Henning.

On June 12, 1983, Ara was united in marriage to Vernon Bursch at the First Baptist Church in Henning. Together they made their home in Henning and enjoyed spending their winters in Brownsville, Texas. Ara was employed with Merickel Lumber in Wadena, MN for 15 years. She loved sewing, quilting and gardening.

Ara passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 in the care of Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Vern; and her son Steve.

Survived by her sisters: Roslyn Ducept on Anoka; Valerie Buchan of St. Paul; nieces: Valerie Johnson; Charice (Kurt) McDowell and nephew Ross Ducept.
