April Lee Smith

April’s life earth-side was shortened when she passed away unexpectedly at her home in Sebeka, MN. April lived a life full of love and happiness. She was the life of the party everywhere she went. She knew who needed extra love and who needed tough love. She was the kind of friend you called when you needed something and was always there for you.

The many people lucky enough to have known April knew her by her teasing nature, infectious smile, her soft heart, and charming laugh. Her favorite pastime was traveling to see her son Landon out west and spending time with him doing what he loves in the mountains.

On April 16th, God looked from His heavens onto His paradise and said, “I need someone willing to sit with a retired mother and father and keep them company in heaven, and visit about gardening, reading books, and laugh about old times.” April’s purpose here on Earth was fulfilled way too soon.

April grew up near Sebeka, MN, where she attended and graduated high school. After high school, she went on to raise a wonderful son, who she was very proud of. She would travel many hours just to spend time with him and enjoy his style of life ranching.

She finally found her dream job at Lakewood Hospital, where she was loved and respected for her hard work and dedication. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends, bowling, and cuddling up with her dogs to read a book.

April is survived by her son Landon Oshie of Burlington, CO; sister Stacy Smagacz of Sebeka, MN; brother Dillon McCann (Emily) of Pierz, MN; nieces and nephew Zachary Smith of Walsenburg, CO, Arrysa (Brandon) Kessler of Sebeka, MN, Myria Ashman (Adam) of Wadena, MN, and Beatrice McCann of Pierz, MN; and great-nieces and nephews. April also leaves behind her “villages” of friends that meant the world to her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Craig Smith and Linda McCann, as well as her grandparents and great-grandparents.
