Anne Lucia Meyer was born on January 26, 1927, at her family home in Folden Township, rural Henning, Minnesota. Her parents are the late Henry and Gesche (Roggenkamp) Meyer. Anne graduated from Henning High School with the class of 1944.
Life was hard for her family after her father, Henry, passed away when Anne was only six years old. After graduation and moved to Chicago to work. There she met Howard Carl Koeppen in Evanston, Illinois. They married on August 5th, 1950, and made their home in Illinois as Howard served in the United States Navy and then as a police sergeant.
In 1968 they made their home in Minnesota where they purchased the Minneha Resort on West Battle Lake. They kept very busy with the help of their two children, Kathleen and James. There was always something to do in running the resort, restaurant, and bar but the thing she enjoyed best was meeting new people and could remember almost everyone she met. She prided herself on having a great memory up until her passing. She enjoyed talking to people about the old times in detail while bringing up facts from over 60 years ago. She often bragged about winning the contest about who knew more facts about the family at the family reunion by Leaf Lake.
Anne Lucia Koeppen of Henning, Minnesota passed away on February 23, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Brainerd, Minnesota at 98 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
