Andrew Suchy

Andrew “Andy” Michael Suchy, age 76, of Henning, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Astera Health in Wadena, Minnesota.

Andrew Michael Suchy was born to Anthony and Mary (Debilzen) Suchy on September 8, 1947.  He was raised on the family farm in Urbank and graduated from Brandon High School.  He was drafted into the Vietnam War and received a furlough to come home and help his Dad farm during which he joined the National Guard out of Fergus Falls.

Andy drove a bulk truck for Urbank Creamery while also farming and milking his own cows.  One day while out picking up milk at the home of Elroy Hansen, Andy was invited in for coffee and it was then that he met Dorothy Hansen who was home from college. When Andy asked Dorothy to be his girl, he gifted her with a taxidermized Weasel.  They were united into marriage on February 14, 1976.  They had a red, white, and blue wedding.  Their union was blessed with one son Anthony, so named for both grandfathers. 

Not only did Andy farm and milk his own cows but he was also a taxidermist and mechanic for Hockert Implement in Millerville, Minnesota.  In 1978-1979 he helped to complete the construction of the barn and silo on the family farm in Urbank.  Andy was an avid outdoorsman enjoying both hunting and fishing.  He held fast to his Christian faith and was patriotic to the core. Andy was a family man, a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was gracious and able to meet people exactly where they were at. Andy will be dearly missed.

Andrew is preceded into death by his parents Anthony and Mary Suchy; in-laws Elroy and Betty Hansen; brother-in-law Curtis Anderson; niece Jessica Weedman; and several aunts and uncles.

Andrew will be mourned by his loving wife of 48 years Dorothy; son Tony (Renee) Suchy of Henning; grandchildren Samantha, Brittney, MacKenzie, and Andrew;  siblings: Margaret (Ken) Faber of Ham Lake, Minnesota, Rose (Fred) Julig of Osakis, Minnesota, Lorretta (Bernell) Kornfeldt of Leaf Valley, Minnesota, Maggie (Darrel) Kornfeldt of Leaf Valley, Minnesota, Lawerence (Rose) Suchy of Urbank, Minnesota, George (Beverly) Suchy of Lowry, Minnesota, Bernadette Anderson of Garfield, Minnesota, and Irene (Dave) Buckels of Henning, Minnesota; many nieces, nephew, and a host of friends.
