Allan Cowles

Allan Charles Cowles was born on March 7, 1964.  His parents were the late Wesley and Doris (Topping) Cowles.  Allan grew up on the family farm and graduated from St. Croix Central High School in Roberts, Wisconsin with the class of 1982. Growing up, Allan was very active in 4-H and FFA.  While in high school he enjoyed football and wrestling. He also was part of a nationally successful dairy judging team.  He graduated from University of Wisconsin River Falls with a Bachelors Degree in animal science with an emphasis in dairy science in 1986. 

Allan was united in marriage with Carolyn Larson on May 9, 1987 at United Congregational Church of Christ in Roberts, Wisconsin. They made their home in Roberts and their marriage was blessed with three children, Victoria, Christina, and Alexa. Allan had several careers, including farming with his brother David, and later on his own. Afterwards he had a career in real estate as a realtor in the St. Croix County area. 

In 2003 Allan made his home in Alexandria, Minnesota, where he was employed with the USDA as a loan officer in the Rural Development program, which served to increase the purchasing ability of low-income buyers. Allan recently resided in Wadena, Minnesota. 

Allan was known for his reserved and kind personality, as well as his spot-on wit. He continuously looked out for his daughters, and others around him, often putting his wants and desires aside. He was always willing to lend a listening ear or give advice to those who needed it. His wise nature was well beyond his years, and throughout his life he always maintained a strong work ethic.

Allan loved collecting and selling antiques, he even had a retail booth at Now and Then in Alexandria. He also enjoyed history, politics, football, nature, and sight-seeing.  He was a loving father to his three daughters.  

On April 4, 2020 Allan passed away at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota at 56 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Allan is survived by his 3 daughters: Victoria (Robert) Balfany of Cold Spring, MN, Christina Cowles of Alexandria, MN, and Alexa Cowles of Indianapolis, Indiana.  He is survived by his siblings Patti (Brent) Robertson of Red Wing, MN, Missy Reed of St. Paul, MN, and Linda Cowles of Baldwin, WI.  Preceding Allan in death were his parents, Wesley and Doris Cowles; wife Carolyn; siblings, David Cowles and Kathy Cowles. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
