Adeline Griffith Obituary
Adeline Julia (Avelsgard) Griffith was born on February 4, 1932, to her parents Albert and Alice (Haugen) Kasper in Adams County, South Fork Township, North Dakota. She grew up joyfully alongside her eight siblings Alfred, Annabel, Lillian, Joe, Alice, Jack, Mabel, and Steve. She attended country school in Orange Township District 2 and 3 through grade 9.
On November 19, 1947, Adeline married David Avelsgard in Oylen, Minnesota. The pair later moved to Lemmon, South Dakota for six months, later moving to David’s hometown of Sebeka, Minnesota where they made their home. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Ray, Mary Kay, and Allan. Adeline and David operated Wahoo Valley together from 1969-1970 and again in 1974 before they began their Grade A dairy farm north of Nimrod, Minnesota, until 1991 when David’s health declined. They owned and operated A & D Lunch wagon from 1988 until 1999 where Adeline specialized in brownies and bread pudding and sold them at auctions sales and the Park Rapids Fair. David passed away peacefully on May 13, 2000, after a loving 52 years of marriage to Adeline. Eventually, Adeline was remarried to Marvin Griffith on May 23, 2001, in Motley Minnesota. They resided in Nimrod and Motley and spent their winters in Arizona until 2016, enjoying 17 years of marriage before Marvin's passing on October 4, 2018.
Aside from her career farming and operating Wahoo Valley with David, Adeline was an active member of the community. Adeline served on the Orton township board for 20 years and also the Wadena-Otter Tail County Community Action Board.
She eventually moved to Wadena, where she resided peacefully at Humphrey Manor. In January 2025, Adeline moved to Greenwood Connections in Menahga, Minnesota, where she was very active in the activities and quickly became loved by staff and residents alike. On June 3, 2026, Adeline passed away peacefully at Greenwood Connections, at the age of 94. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
