Acey Gunkel

Acey Lynn Gunkel was born on September 17, 1959, in Perham, Minnesota. His parents were the late Wayne and Mattie (Abbott) Gunkel. Acey graduated from Perham High School with the class of 1978.  He attended Detroit Lakes Vocational Technical College for 2 years where he received a degree in auto body and then went to work for George’s Auto Body in Ottertail. He was employed for a short time at Lund Boats and also in California. Acey mainly was employed in auto body in the Perham, Wadena and most recently at Fast Lane Motors in Ottertail. 

He enjoyed deer hunting, tropical fish and his favorite television show was Jeopardy.

On June 6, 2024, Acey passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota at 64 years of age.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Preceding Acey in death were his parents, Wayne and Mattie Gunkel; brother-in-law, Gary Newborg and special friend, Kathy Toso

Acey is survived by: step-son, Nathan (Shanna) Hammer and their children: Austin & Madysen; siblings: Louis (Sonja) Gunkel; Nancy Newborg; John (Vicky) Gunkel and Renae Gunkel; special friend, Deb Karst and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews and a host of friends.
