Virginia Ann Barry was born November 1, 1944 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to the late Bernard and Fern (Donely) Barry. Ginny was baptized and confirmed at St. James Catholic Church in Maine, Minnesota. She attended the Barry Country School in Maine Township and graduated from the Battle Lake High School with the class of 1962.
Ginny was waitressing in Ottertail where she met her future husband, Ron. On November 22, 1972 Ginny was united in marriage with Ronald George Jacobson at the United Methodist Church in Ottertail, Minnesota. Ginny and Ron made their home at the Jacobson Farm in Otto Township and then built their dream log home in 1996.
Ginny received a Administrative Assistant Degree from Wadena Vocational Technical College in Wadena and then was employed there for 18 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she was also the secretary. Ginny loved to cook, entertaining, hosting many Watkins events and traveling.
On October 7, 2018 Ginny passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota at 73 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Ginny in death were her parents, Bun and Fern Barry; sisters: Patty Tucker and Laurie Barry; father-in-law, George Jacobson; sister-in-law, Cheryl Barry; brother-in-law, Paul Jacobson; nephew, Lance Barry and niece, Wendy Barry.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ron Jacobson of New York Mills; children: Jodi (Greg) Domeier of Sartell; Aaron (Kristin) Loomer of North Branch; Reed Jacobson of New York Mills; Sara Jacobson of New York Mills; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings: Hilary (Marilyn) Barry of Lake Wilson; Barb (Jack) Bowman of Wray, Colorado; Greg Barry of Underwood; Jean Fogard of Battle Lake; Mike Barry of Fergus Falls; Max (Russ) Swenson of Underwood; Dan (Cheryl) Barry of Battle Lake; Kathy Johansen of Battle Lake; Tim Barry of Everett, Washington and Renee (Jerry) Washek of Underwood; many aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
