Vernon Elroy Pedersen was born December 19, 1932 in Underwood, Minnesota. His parents were the late Eddie and Ida (Berg) Pedersen. Vern grew up and attended school in Underwood. He honorably served in the United States Army from April 1953 – April 1955. Upon discharge, he was employed as a truck driver at Mark’s Sand and Gravel before starting his career in carpentry, specializing in finishing work. Vernon was married to Delores Selleck and was blessed with five children: Gregory, Bruce, Jolene, Rick and Alvin.
In 1989, Vernon was united in marriage to Marcella (Menton) Sanders. They resided in Grand Rapids and in 2004 made their home in Deer Creek, Minnesota. Vernon enjoyed restoring vehicles and old tractors.
On June 18, 2019, Vernon entered eternal rest at Good Samaritan Society in Battle Lake, Minnesota with family by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents: Eddie and Ida; and his son: Gregory.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Marcella; daughter: Jolene (Jeff) Karlstad; sons: Rick (Andrea) Pedersen; Alvin (Jodi) Pedersen; and Bruce Pedersen; step-children: Linda (Calvin) Mickle; Kathy (Steven) Steel and Billy June (Robert) Sanders; numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; brother: Peter (Maryann) Pedersen; many other relatives and a host of friends.
