Ryan William Paavola was born on August 20, 1986 in Wadena, Minnesota to Larry and Beverley (Hybl) Paavola. Ryan was Baptized on September 28, 1986 and Confirmed on May 20, 2001 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills. Larry passed away in 1987.
In the Summer of 2001 Ryan was accepted to the Student Ambassador Program and represented the United States and traveled thru Europe. Ryan graduated from the New York Mills High School with the class of 2005. Ryan continued his education at St. Cloud University where he majored in Political Science and minored in Community Development and Public Administration. He enjoyed the Lead America Program in Washington DC during the summer of 2009. Returning to Minnesota, he accepted employment with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Minneapolis, specializing in benefits and pensions for our Veterans.
Ryan loved to travel overseas, the eastern states, camping and hiking in Colorado, Mexico and vacationing in the winters in Florida with Bev and Greg. Ryan was interested in the Arts and Theatre and enjoy sitting at a local park reading a book. Ryan also enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Ryan fought a valiant fight with liver failure and recently made his home in Frazee with Bev and Greg. He spent his remaining days with love and care at Ecumen Transitions in Detroit Lakes. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and the gentle care of Red River Valley Hospice Care on September 23, 2018 at 32 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Ryan in death by his father, Larry Paavola; grandparents: Wilho and Rosalie Paavola and Lloyd Mickelson.
Ryan is survived by his Mother, Beverley and step-father, Greg Mickelson of Frazee; grandparents, Eldon and Mary Hybl of Staples; Rosella Mickelson of Frazee and numerous "nieces and nephews", cousins, aunts and uncles, other relatives and a host of friends.
