Roger Clemence Hammer, age 67 passed away on April 7, 2018 at Essentia St. Joseph Medical Center in Brainerd, Minnesota after fighting a long battle of cancer.
Roger was born on September 1, 1950 at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. His parents were the late Clemence and Margit (Koehler) Hammer. Roger graduated from the New York Mills High School with the class of 1969. He attended and graduated from Wadena Vocational Technical College in Wadena with an auto mechanic degree and was employed at the Mills Service Center for a short time. Thereafter, he operated a dairy farm in Homestead Township, retiring in 2007. During his retirement, Roger enjoyed working at Walmart in Wadena, Minnesota for 10 years. Roger was married for 27 years and was blessed with three children who brought him great joy. Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting and shooting the breeze with his neighbors. His favorite memory was visits from his grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his three children: Neil Hammer of Wadena, Minnesota; Christina Barton of Bullhead City, Arizona and Tonia Hammer of Fargo, North Dakota; four grandchildren: Chancellor Barton, Kennedy Barton, Acacia Barton and Hunter Hammer; his sister: Rosemary (Jim) Lupien; his nephews: Craig (Renee) Lupien and their children Ashley and Cole, Jason (Kristin) Lupien and their children Ethan and Logan; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Preceding Roger in death are his parents, Clemence and Margit Hammer, and his step-mom Clarine Hammer.
