Rhoda Stinar Obituary

Rhoda was born on November 6, 1928 in Deer Creek, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Henry Bernard and Emma (Diercksen) Anderson. During her childhood, Rhoda was her Dad’s right-hand lady helping with chores on their family farm. Her and her siblings became the best of friends working together on the farm and walking to and from school each day. In 1946 Rhoda graduated from Deer Creek High School. Soon after, she met Homer “Chuck” Stinar who would turn out to be the love of her life.

On June 11, 1946 Rhoda and Homer “Chuck” were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek. Their marriage was blessed with 6 children. Together Rhoda and Chuck made their home for 72 years in Verndale. They loved going out with friends and dancing at the ballrooms in Aldrich, Leaf Lake and Perham. Rhoda was employed with Future Homes in New York Mills and then for 20 years at the Verndale Grocery Store. Rhoda enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren at sporting events and always was their number one fan.

Some of Rhoda’s favorite past times included cleaning her house or anyone else’s, doing laundry, casino trips with her sister and daughters-she was considered the “lucky charm”, people watching, riding in the car, trying her luck at pull-tabs, and enjoying the company of whoever would stop by. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially all her grandchildren.

Rhoda’s love for Monarch butterflies will continue through her family bringing a sense of peace whenever one is seen. Rhoda always found the good in everyone and was welcoming to all. She will be remembered for her warm hugs and infectious smile.

Rhoda passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 9, 2019 at Tri- County Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota at 90 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Rhoda in death were her parents; son, Rick Stinar; siblings: Glenn, Alfred and Marilyn.

Rhoda is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Homer “Chuck” Stinar; children: Jean Stinar (daughter-in-law), Steve (Rosie) Stinar, Mike (Delle) Stinar, Brad (Brenda) Stinar, Shari (Daryl) Mattson, and Michelle (Art) Schluttner; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; brother, Bruce (Mary) Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of beloved friends.
