Olga Sophia Steinhauer was born on December 24, 1921 in Parker, South Dakota. Her parents were the late John and Elisa (Pineckeanstein) Steinhauer. Olga graduated with her twin sister, Olinda and her other sister, Johanna with the Class of 1940 from Marion High School in Marion, South Dakota. Olga was united in marriage to Floyd C. Dorow in South Dakota. They made their home near Oak Point on Rush Lake, and later moved to Otto Township where they continued to farm. Floyd passed away October 2, 1952.
In her younger years Olga was employed as a CNA at the Perham Hospital. In 1954 Olga was united in marriage to Maurice John Krekula. Maurice and Olga made their home in Otto Township. Olga continued her education an became an LPN and was employed at the New York Mills Hospital and then the Elders’ Home. Maurice passed away on August 24, 1989. Olga made her home in New York Mills in 2007, and has resided at the Hadley House in Perham since May of 2017.
Olga enjoyed gardening, canning, playing cards, crocheting, hardanger embroidery and knitting. On November 28, 2019 Olga passed away at 97 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Olga in death were her parents, John and Elisa; husbands, Floyd Dorow and Maurice John Krekula; son, Darwin “Chuck” Dorow; siblings: Paul, Theodore, Sara, Johanna,Bernard, Olinda, Ida and Emil
Olga is survived by her son, Duane (Georgia) Dorow of Frazee; daughters: Janice Barthel of Wadena and Janell (Joel “JJ”) Brever of North Minneapolis; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
