Myrtle Balogh

Myrtle Marie Balogh was born on March 12, 1926 in Folden Township, rural Henning Minnesota.   Her parents were the late Lars and Alma (Kirkeby) Strommen.  She attended elementary school in District 234 in Folden Township and graduated from Henning High School with the class of 1944.

Myrtle worked for Ken Anderson Insurance Agency and during the war worked as a contractor for the Air Force in Florida.   She later worked for United Airlines and retired from GE Fleet Services in 1997.  

Myrtle and her husband Joe were married for 63 years.  Together they enjoyed travel including trips to Hawaii, Australia, Norway, Sweden and Rio De Janeiro.  Myrtle enjoyed gardening, cooking dinners for her family, baking birthday cakes, and her puppy dog Misty.   She loved her son Brian and her greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren.

On July 13, 2018 Myrtle passed away peacefully under the gentle care of Karlene and her loving staff at Country Living at 92 years of age.   She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  Myrtle is preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Merle; sisters Bernice Aune and Laura Strommen. 

Myrtle is survived by her husband, Joe Balogh; son, Brian Balogh; grandchildren; Stephanie Hertzog, Nicole Hertzog, Joey Hertzog; great grandson Jason Hertzog; niece, Arlene Henry; great nieces, Laurie (Mark) Martinson and Jeanene (Mark) Wildes; great nephew; Mike (Kris) Henry and great-great nephews; Kyle Henry and Shane Henry; and great-great-nephew Levi Henry; other relatives and friends.

Burial will take place at United Cemetery, Henning, MN.
