Mavis Marlene (Wierima) Eckert was born August 20, 1939 to the late Arthur and Anna (Poikila) Wierima in the Wesley Hospital, Wadena, MN. She grew up on the family farm west of Sebeka, MN. Mavis graduated from Sebeka High School in 1957. After graduation, she attended Key Punch School in Minneapolis, MN. Mavis moved to Madison, WI and was employed with an insurance company before moving to Chicago where she did secretarial work for Admiral Corporation and Underwriters Grain Association.
Mavis was united in marriage to Bob Williams of Chicago in 1962. Together they had three sons. She returned to Minnesota in 1973 and worked for AmeriPrise Financial in Minneapolis for 23 years. In 1997, she was married to Dennis Eckert and in 1998, she retired and moved back to Sebeka. Mavis loved her family, enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and taking care of many feline friends.
Survived by her husband, Dennis; sons: Bob (Tonya) Williams of Cleveland, TN; Mark Williams of Plymouth, MN; and Bryan Williams of Knoxsville, TN; stepdaughter, Lisa (Dave) Robinson of Palmer, Alaska; 8 grandchildren; sister Virginia Wierima and brother James Wierima, both of St. Croix Falls, WI.
Preceded in death by her parents; sisters Marcy and Rose Marie.
