Mary Ellen (Davis) Brauch was born on September 2, 1949 to Dale and Betty (Barr) Davis in Cut Bank, Montana. She graduated from Wadena High School with the class of 1968.
Mary attended Brainerd Technical College where she studied early childhood and then graduated from Southern Illinois University. She was united in marriage to Melvin Reed. They were married for 20 years and had two children, April and Wil. During this time, Mary owned and operated her own daycare in Cahoki, Illinois. Mary moved to Slidell, Louisiana and was the Dean of Delta Community College. Shortly after, she made her home in Wadena, with her son Wil where she helped establish Head Start Wadena-OTCC.
On March 16, 1996 Mary was united in marriage to Darcy Franklin Brauch at Bethany Lutheran Church in Bluegrass, Minnesota. Mary and Darcy owned and operated Storge Group Home in Wadena from 2007 to 2012, and recently taught at SonRise Christian School of Bluffton.
Mary enjoyed crafting, sewing, restoring antiques, watching hockey, and caring for others. She loved her grandchildren dearly, always looked forward to spending time with them. Mary had a true passion for teaching and serving her Lord.
Mary entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at her home in Wadena. She will be missed by all her family, friends and all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 23 years Darcy Brauch; daughter: April Reed of Jackson, NC; sons: William (Ann Getchell) Reed of Wadena; Dwayne (Hillorie) Brauch of Cottage Grove; 7 grandchildren: Shelbie, Cruz, Kazin, Cooper, Madalynn, Kyleigh and Kayde; sister Kay (Mike) Lynch of San Antonio, TX; brother Danny (Diane) Davis of Verndale; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Preceding Mary in death are parents, Dale and Betty Davis; and Betty’s significant other of many years, Leonard Hotakainen.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to go to SonRise Christian School, 35305 585th Ave, PO Box 65, Bluffton, MN 56518.
